3D printing from your file in South Africa
Already have a model? Send the file and describe what the part needs to do. Lycan Core checks the geometry, agrees on a suitable material and quotes for small-run FDM printing before manufacture. Finished parts can be sent anywhere in South Africa.
What to send for a quote
- Attach the 3D model, or include a download link if the file is too large for email.
- State the quantity and what the part will be used for.
- Include the preferred material if you have one, or describe the load, heat, weather and chemical exposure.
- Give the delivery town so postage can be included in the quote.
- Mention any critical dimensions, fit requirements or deadline.
STEP, IGES, STL, DWG and 3MF files are accepted, as are SolidWorks, Inventor and Fusion 360 files. If you do not have a model yet, see replacement parts developed from an original.
How the job runs
- Check the supplied modelThe file is reviewed for printability and the part's intended use. If a dimension, tolerance or feature is unclear, that is resolved before quoting.
- Agree on material and priceMaterial is selected for the load, temperature, sunlight, moisture and other conditions the part will face. The part, quantity and delivery location are quoted before printing starts.
- Print and dispatchParts are produced by fused deposition modelling (FDM) and can be sent anywhere in South Africa. The confirmed production and delivery times are included in the quote.
Materials matched to the application
Available FDM materials include PLA, PET-G, ABS, ASA, PA12 and PA12-CF. The right choice depends on the part's geometry and conditions of use; a material is confirmed after the file and application are reviewed.
| Material | Typical use |
|---|---|
| PLA | Fit checks, prototypes and lightly loaded indoor parts |
| PET-G | General parts where water or occasional splashes are a consideration |
| ABS | Enclosed printing for parts that will be bonded, sanded or painted |
| ASA | Outdoor covers, ducts and housings where UV resistance matters |
| PA12 | Tough parts, guides and components exposed to wear |
| PA12-CF | Stiffer parts where carbon-filled nylon suits the application |
Material selection is explained in more detail on the obsolete part replacement page.
Quantity, turnaround and delivery
One-off and small-run parts are quoted from the supplied file. A production-ready file typically takes 3–5 working days to print; the confirmed time depends on part size, quantity, material and the work already in progress. Delivery time and cost are quoted separately for your town.
Runs in the thousands are normally better suited to injection moulding. Certified or safety-critical load-bearing parts require the appropriate analysis and formal sign-off, which this printing service does not provide.

The Super Polo louvres and Samlin Racing badge were developed from physical parts or photographs rather than customer-supplied CAD. Their job records show the material choices, printing methods and production issues behind completed parts.
